Giants put defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris on injured reserve after his Achilles tendon tear

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (AP) — The New York Giants put veteran defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris on injured reserve Wednesday, a move that sidelines him for the season.

Robertson-Harris, 33, tore his right Achilles tendon during an offseason workout practice in May and opened training camp on the physically unable to perform list.

The Giants, after trading Dexter Lawrence to Cincinnati ahead of the draft in April, hoped to fill the void in the trenches by committee. With Robertson Harris out, that will now come down to the likes of free agent additions D.J. Reader and Shelby Harris, holdover Darius Alexander and rookie sixth-round pick Bobby Jamison-Travis.

In other roster moves, New York signed defensive backs David Long and D.J. James and waived/injured young receiver Beaux Collins, who can be claimed by another team or revert to the Giants' IR list after the claiming period.

Long, 28, is a veteran of 86 NFL games and was on the Los Angeles Rams when they won the Super Bowl in the 2021 season. James, 25, appeared in one game last season for New England.
